This novel received the “Children’s Novel of 2013” award given by IBBY – Turkey (ÇGYD) and “Best Children’s Novel of 2014” prize given by Ankara University Children’s and Young Adult Literature Application and Research Center (ÇOGEM).
The novel depicts Ali’s transformation into a completely different person just because of a single letter added accidentally to his surname during the renewal of his ID card. In his fun and thought-provoking fiction, Ak is telling how social media changed our oral and written communication styles, how fast consumption has become the focus of our lives through the eyes of a child who became famous in the social media as “Mr. Ç”. This novel, enriched with colored, caricature like drawings of Behiç Ak invites the child readers, families and educators to think on the philosophy of life which changes shape in virtual and real environments.
Overview
When Ali couldn’t find his ID card, he applies for a new one and surprisingly discovers that an extra Ç letter is added to his last name in the records just by mistake. Although his father is very angry about this mistake, Ali is very happy because a single letter would make him a completely different person. His followers in social media and his friends at school started to call him as “Mr. Ç” . However, in a world where everything is cınsumed and thrown away so quicikly, how would Ali Hoşgörüç survive?
